It would appear from Clievers's Medical Jurisprudence, that poisoning by this substance is rare. It is cultivated in most gardens in Southern India, and is known as c the coral plant,' from the appearance of its flowers, or as 4 French physic-nut,' from the appearance and properties of its fruit, a three-celled coccus, about the size of a small lime, and of a pale lemon colour. I was sent for about mid-day, on the 9th ultimo, to see three European children, who had taken ill after eating some physic-nuts, which the ayah had brought in from the garden for them to play with.
